So Josephine was always known as "Jo." There is conflict with the outside class known as the "townies." Also many teenage issues in this book from sexuality, bullying, and weight-issues. John The Divine and the girls called themselves, "Divines." It is a boarding school for the privileged that many of the girls Mothers and Grandmothers also attended. In the past, Josephine attended a boarding school in England during her teenage years. The story alternates from past to present time. It is a debut book that I think is beautifully written and pretty smart. This book seems to be a little hard to review and I can see I'm not the only one thinking this. Exposing the tension between the lives we lead as adults and the experiences that form us, Eaton probes us to consider how our memories as adults compel us to reexamine our pasts.
